Artist Statement
Having been a math major in college and then a banker for forty years, watercolor painting would seem the next logical step, right? That is exactly what happened – I retired from a very fulfilling, 40 year career with HSBC Bank and within a month I was in a beginner’s watercolor class through the Williamsville School’s Adult Education Program – and I loved it! More than five years and countless paintings – some more successful than others – I still love it!
Thanks to some wonderful teachers (Dan Meyer has taught me and inspired me so much) I have come to see myself and the world in new ways. For myself, I see beyond numbers and bottom lines, and for the world, I appreciate the interplay of light and shadow and the complexity of colors as I never did before.
These first five years of my artistic journey have been revelatory and exciting in so many ways. I look forward to many more of learning and creating!
