Eligibility

We welcome all area artists and/or those who appreciate art.  Residency in Williamsville is not required.

Benefits of Membership

Meetings and Publications

Meetings are held the 2nd Friday each month, at 7 p.m., from September through May (excluding December) at the Harlem Road Community Center, 4255 Harlem Rd, Amherst, NY (near Main & Harlem - at intersection of Harlem & Lincoln).

An artist demonstration is held at the monthly meeting (i.e., watercolor landscapes, still lifes in oil, pastel portraits, etc.)  Members may contact the Society Secretary if they would like to be considered for selection as a paid demonstrator at a monthly meeting.

Members receive monthly newsletters making them aware of upcoming Society demonstration topics, area shows, exhibit opportunities, etc.

Membership rosters are provided.  Membership dues are to be paid by October 1st to be included in the current roster (subsequent members are listed in the newsletter). 

Art Shows and Festivals

Members may participate in two non-juried shows (Fall and Spring) for a modest additional fee.  Monetary prizes are awarded to show winners.  Both are held in the atrium at 5500 Main St., Williamsville, NY (across from the Pancake House).

A reception is held on the first Sunday of each of the Fall and Spring Shows and paintings remain on display for approximately 4 weeks.

Members are asked to assist at show receptions by serving on a committee, bringing finger food, and signing up to sit with the paintings while on display during certain times.

Members are automatically eligible to participate in other local art festivals.

Members with dues paid by October 1st are eligible to enter both the Fall and Spring Shows.  Late dues are accepted until February 28th, however, those members are eligible for the Spring Show only.

Featured Artists

Members may choose to become a Featured Artist and have a webpage on the Williamsville Art Society website (www.williamsvilleartsociety.org).  Your page will showcase your art and provide contact information for those interested in it. 

Your page will include one or more photos of artwork, a short artist statement, a link to your own art website, and/or contact information, if desired.  Anyone can view your work at any time from around the world and can locate you through Google, Yahoo! and other search engines.

You must be a current member with paid dues to participate.  Each year, you will have the option to update your page when you renew your WAS membership. 

Yearly fees are as follows: Page w/1 painting=$15; Page w/2-4 paintings=$30; Page w/5-8 paintings=$50.

How to get your page published after signing up:

1.  Use a digital camera to take quality photos of the art work you choose to display.

2.  Crop the photos to exclude frames and save each one as a jpg file.

3.  Write a short artist statement.

4.  Include your artist statement in the body of an email and attach your 1-8 photos and email it to Andrea Kennedy at andreamkennedy@hotmail.com

If you would like to be a Featured Artist, please review the options on the Membership Application, choose the option that suits your needs and send in your application by October 1st.
