Arlene M. Bergslien

Artist’s Statement

Just as I am a combination of artist and anthropologist, my artwork is a mixture of medias. I started with drawing then progressed to oils. As my formal education progressed I was required to experience other media. I became enthralled with printmaking and metalsmithing, often a love/hate relationship. These process arts taught me color theory and discipline. Always experimenting, my desire is to integrate my medias while continuing to express my observations and questions in light, color and movement while incorporating a juxtaposition of smooth and textured applications.

Arlene is a disabled artist with a BFA from Metropolitan State University of Denver with a double emphasis, one in printmaking and one in metalsmithing. She also has a BA in anthropology. She was taught printmaking under master printer E.C. Cunningham.

You may email me with questions regarding my work.
